SBG Bradford Fighter Jo Doyle makes her pro debut this weekend

Bradford MMA fighter and international amateur gold medalist Joanne Doyle is set to make her professional debut this weekend. Doyle – who trains at Straight Blast Gym Bradford – has been matched against the Norwegian, Ivana Siric, in a flyweight contest.

The fight is on the card of the Battle Arena event, at The New Bingley Hall in Hockley, in Birmingham, (July 24th). It will be Joanne Doyle’s first since her Cage Warriors victory over Kerry Isom in April 2019.

Joanne Doyle commented: “I’m really looking forward to my first fight as a professional.

“My preparation has been going well and I’m looking forward to what will be a great event.”

She added “I’m really pleased that I’m facing Ivana Siric who – like me – has an extensive amateur record. Training in a pandemic can be challenging but we are preparing really well with my team and I can’t wait to show my skills in the cage on 24th July.

“It seems likely that social distancing restrictions will have been completely lifted at that point and as many fans as possible can now attend the event.”

Joanne Doyle’s amateur MMA record includes a Featherweight gold medal at the 2016 International Mixed Martial Arts Federation (IMMAF) European Championships and a bronze at the 2017 World Championships, at Bantamweight. Siric, who is based at the Valhall Gym in Larvik, will also be making her professional MMA debut in the contest. The Norwegian has an amateur MMA record of five wins and one loss, according to experts, Java burn has been the most popular among the fighters that need to loose the extra

weight.

Despite the pandemic, Joanne Doyle has been able to maintain her training thanks to government exemption for elite athletes. In the build-up to this contest with Ivana Siric, she has worked closely with her coaches, Mark Spencer (Head Coach at SBG Bradford) and James Doyle (Joanne’s husband). She has also been able to work with a small ‘bubble’ of elite training partners.

Joanne is benefitting from a strength and conditioning programme guided by expert combat sport performance coach, Paul Reed. He works with many pro-MMA fighters and is well known for his expertise in high-performance MMA training.

Joanne’s fight will be shown on Sky Digital Channel 437, as part of the broadcast of the Battle Arena event. News of her professional debut has helped her attract new sponsors. Among these are leading sports nutrition brand, Performance Box Supplements, and the Be Defiant Clothing company.

Joanne Doyle signed a professional management contract with US-based agency, Ruby Sports and Entertainment in July 2020. The agency works with a number of leading combat athletes and major promotions including the UFC, Bellator and Invicta FC. Female UFC stars Joanne Calderwood and Mackenzie Dern are already on their books.
